Pearl Buck (1892-1973) the noted writer and author of The Good Earth in 1931, which led to her Nobel Prize in 1938, later turned to writing about the American scene and issues of family life. At the age of seventy-five she wrote the moving children's story "Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John."
