Mae West (1892-1980) was an American stage and film sex symbol, flaunting frank sensuality with a touch of humor. In 1959 when she was sixty-seven, her autobiography, Goodness Had Nothing to Do with It, was published. She maintained her glamorous presence well into later life, starring at age seventy-eight in the film Myra Breckenridge, and at eighty-five in the film Sextette.
