Doug McCormick manages the Puyallup Activity Center and has been in this position since January of 2002. He began his work in Puyallup at the Puyallup Senior Center, a.k.a. Puyallup’s original Fire Station Building, and temporarily transitioned the program to the Memorial Building while the Senior Center, along with City Hall and the Court Building were torn down to clear the way for the new Puyallup Activity Center (PAC) which opened in September of 2006.
He is a member on the Aging In Place Committee, serves as a staff person on the Puyallup Activity Center Senior Advisory Board, and attends the Celebrate Seniority Advisory Council meetings. He is also a past Board Member of the Washington State Association of Senior Centers and a past Chair of the Senior Services Section of the Washington Parks and Recreation Board.
On a professional level, Doug received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Recreation Administration from Central Washington University, and has happily been working with older adults for the past 22 years in private, non-profit, and public agencies. His experience ranges from therapeutic recreation for older adults, recreation program development for a retirement community, and Senior Services development and implementation for Parks and Recreation Departments. He feels honored to work with many wonderful people that volunteer, instruct and participate in a variety of services, activities and programs geared for older adults in the Puyallup Community.
